Ibeju-Lekki is a local government area in the Epe Division of Lagos State, Nigeria. The administrative centre was formally at Akodo and was later moved to Igando Oloja due to the creation of Lekki Council Development Area. The name of the Local government was derived from two autonomous communities, Ibeju and Lekki.
The people of the area are mainly Yoruba speaking natives, there are many other people from different parts of the country and around the world residing, working and investing in the local government. The area also attracts massive amount of tourism as it is endowed with the beautiful lagoon and the gorgeous ocean fronts.
The development in this area is rapid and ongoing, some would even refer to the area as the New Lagos. In fact the commercial Hub of Lagos state is shifting towards the area with many investment been done to develop industries and infrastructures.
A groundbreaking fertilizer plant and refinery is currently under construction at the Lekki Free Zone area, along with a petrochemical and power plant, Dangote refinery, seaport, an airport, Pan-African University in the area. It is also one of the locations for the Lagos Smart City deal with Dubai. With the actualization of the blueprint, Ibeju Lekki would become a central hub for businesses, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. With this information, experts are forecasting an increase of commercial activities, as a result of these projected developments coming into the area. Thereby, creating thousands of jobs and generally make the area a major business district in the country.
Following the current real estate trend in Lagos, Estate developers are using these prospective developments as a marketing campaign to lure the public to invest in landed property in the area. Surely, it would be of great value in the near future.
